Position under Truss not recoverable warns MP who calls her ‘catastrophically incompetent’

  1. They’re gone for good this time. I’m thinking Liberals gone. We won’t even finish dealing with the chaos of Brexit, Mortgages and energy dependency in 15 years….

  2. They might get that down to 10 years if they limit the damage now by just accepting that they’re done for now and calling a general election that they know they’ll lose. But if they insist on dragging it out to 2024, people will remember.

  3. We can only hope. People put a lot of trust in the Tories and they’ve been repaid, first with lies and disrespect under BJ and now with utter incompetence

  4. Try 50 ?

Coz the old generation will die in the next 10. (Their base)

The second batch is pretty divided 50s to 60s and wont vote them in the next 10.

By then all od gen Z, who will well remember this wont vote for them and us millennials not in a life time.

Maybe our grandchildren will vote tory ?

So try 50 years out of power if they dont call for a GE soon.

  5. I thought that was the plan.
They cant exactly sell off public assets if Labour hasnt built them up yet can they.

  6. The fact that the Tories after all that’s happening are concerned about losing power rather than everything else says it all

  7. I reckon they’ll be out of power for at least one election cycle, maybe two. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess.

The older I’ve got, the more convinced I am that people don’t generally vote for parties because they especially like them; they do it because they don’t like the alternatives.

  8. Fifteen years isn’t enough. If Labour get enough seats for PR to go through, they’ll never have power alone again.

  9. Just waiting for an Italy style right wing movement to establish now, only took them two years. Country is a big wet pussy waiting to get fucked; disenfranchised public, weak support for both parties, immigration shitting the bed, Ukraine conflict causing divide, police not doing their jobs, crime going through the roof; be warned.

  10. They need it! They’ve obviously used up all the talent that existed in the party and need time to incubate.

  11. Imagine how much good we could do with 15 years of non Tory rule. But I’ll believe it when I see it. They won’t call a GM, they’ll appoint another caretaker and kick the ball in the long grass

  12. i think liz truss will stay leader, things will continue to be shit but they wont make any more ridiculous moves and in 2025 they’ll be an election and they’ll win again because people will have forgotten all this shit

  13. At a glance I thought the tories are warning that we will not have power in our homes for 15 years 🤦 my brain is clearly fried from all this bs

  14. Makes for a great headline but it is complete nonsense. There has been precisely one Labour government in the past 43 years (Blair/Brown).

The Conservative party will be back in power within 5 or 10 years if/when Labour do get elected.

People are gullible and have extremely short memories when it comes to voting.

  15. I’d much prefer it if the headline that changes the mind of Torys is ‘MPs warned of hardship for their constituents in some cases resulting in life long disadvantage or even early death if they stick with Tuss.’ Maybe think of someone other than themselves for a change, LIKE THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO DO!!!

  16. Which is why we need PR keep them out for good in their current form. Not the usual cycle.

PR will see them split. The more sane elements, which have been crushed by the absolute nutters will probably be part of future coalitions. And that’s ok. The bat shit crazy elements that have taken them over will be relegated to shouting from the background where they belong.

  17. Proportional representation would be a permanent end to them ever being solely in power again.

    It needs to happen.

  18. Terrifying that Truss alone, and not any number of other things they’ve done over the last decade would dictate this

  19. At this point when Labour is in the ascendant, given the history and the context of the British class system, you always have to worry about the middle class liberals stealth-sabotaging.

They always do. Look at how Labour was blamed for the Iraq war. The Tory MPs who voted for the war nearly to a man and woman, were completely absolved. And then when the Cameron/Clegg government toppled the regime in Libya, creating a power vacuum just like happened in Iraq, there was none of that stuff about pinning all the corpses of the aftermath, the long civil war, on the government. No, it’s only Labour, the historically working class party, which is held to this standard. Given the history/context of the UK in regard to class divisions, can you really say that it is such a surprise?

  20. I’m torn between wanting this to continue as they are just digging a deeper hole, being so very tired of watching my country burn, and fearing that they will still somehow avoid their long-overdue comeuppance and just keep pillaging.

  21. Based off recent polling, they won’t have enough MPs be asked to appear in political debates, asked their opinion in the news or have their votes mentioned in Parliament. Their opinion won’t matter to anyone at all and they’ll all be forgotten.
