I wonder if Belgium is going to be able to reach the quota on fine dust particles. And are they trying to extinguish burning plastic, PET, with water?
Trash is dangerous, a lot of toxic, combustable and flammable substances together.
Don t worry they just converted the site to an incinerator

It’s just as we used to recycle back in the old days.
As someone who works at a recycling plant.
This is a huge loss, not that they need to process it but a lot of the heat gets reused for other stuff. (our whole plant almost uses the fire for energy/heat for other sites/people nearby)
