  1. Dzień Dobry

    I have used Google Translate to translate the ingredients and directions but there are a couple of things that haven’t translated very well. Could you please help me?

    This is what I got from Google Translate:

    * 1 kg of pork, cut into thick cubes
    * 2 carrots, cut into half slices
    * 3 onions, diced
    * 400 g mushrooms, quartered
    * 3 tablespoons (50 g) of tomato paste
    * 2 tablespoons of flour
    * after a sprig of chopped rosemary and thyme
    * 3 juniper seeds
    * 1 pack of Knorr Stew Spices
    * 3 bay leaves
    * 3 tablespoons of oil
    * 2 tablespoons of butter

    A method of preparing

    1. Sprinkle the meat with Knorr stew seasoning and fry in hot fat. Transfer to a pot, pour a litre of water and add the tomato paste. Simmer everything for about 20 minutes.
    2. Fry the onion, carrots and mushrooms in a pan. Add the butter, wait for it to melt, then add the flour. Put everything into a pot with meat and mix thoroughly. Add herbs and spices. Cook them all together for another 20 minutes, until the meat is tender.

    Tip: You can use other types of meat for stews, such as lamb or beef.

    First bit I dont understand is the translation of “po gałązce posiekanego rozmarynu i tymianku” – its been translated as “after a sprig of chopped rosemary and thyme” – “after” doesn’t make any sense.

    Second is the direction “Mięso oprósz Przyprawą do gulaszu Knorr i obsmaż na rozgrzanym tłuszczu” – its been translated as “Sprinkle the meat with Knorr stew seasoning and fry in hot fat. ” – is the “hot fat” the oil in the ingredients?

    Third is the direction “Na patelni podsmaż cebulę, marchew i pieczarki. Dodaj masło, poczekaj aż sie rozpuści, a następnie dodaj mąkę. ” – its been translated as “Fry the onion, carrots and mushrooms in a pan. Add the butter, wait for it to melt, then add the flour.”. Is it correct to add the butter after frying the onion, carrot and mushrooms? I don’t see how you can fry them in a dry pan.

    Dziękuję

  2. Gaulic/galician goulash – not sure which one it might be

    * 1 kg pork cut in big chunks
    * 2 sliced carrots
    * 3 onions diced
    * 400 g shrooms cut in quarters
    * 3 spoons (~50 g) tomato paste (in little jars)
    * 2 spoons of flour
    * diced herbs: rosemary, thyme and 3 dried juniper berries, 3 bay leafs
    * 3 spoons of oil and 2 spoons of butter

    and the sachet of Knorr Fix

    Sprinkle meat with mix from the bag and fry short on heated pan with hot oil. Next, move it to the pot and pour 1 liter of water and add tomato paste. Stew for about 20 mins

    On the same pan fry onion, carrot and shrooms. Add butter and wait till it melts and next add flour (basically you’re making a roux on the remains from frying the meat – it will thicken the sauce). Move roux to the pot with meat and mix thoroughly. Add herbs and spices. You should cook everything for about 20 mins until meat becomes soft.

    Tip: you can use different kind of meats, like lamb or beef
