Were you planning on eating it?
Some eat cucumber with its skin on, some eat pupkin whole. Glue used on those lables wouldnt even get off after rubbing some 70% alco on it. Defo not alowed to do it when selling edible food stuff..
Barely noticed the pumpkin, just been admiring your sink😅
Skin isn’t great anyway
Blow on it with a hair dryer. Should soften the adhesive right up
But also this type of pumpkin isnt really designed for eating. You want a pie pumpkin/baking pumpkin.
keep the sticker you did manage to get off and use it to sort of dab off the rest of the sticky bits. just give it a tap. a tappity tap tap tap.
Most glue used for food labels is food safe. You can safely eat the whole sticker on an apple
Just get some nail polish remover onto it. Or don’t worry about it, carving pumpkins are pretty crap to eat. Get a decent winter squash instead, they are out in the shops now
Oil takes off glue. Get some on a scrubber sponge
It rubs the lotion on its skin
Although i agree with you at the stupidity of the unneccesarily sticky label, people who eat pumpkins should be put on a watchlist.
Can’t you just draw a square aroud the label and cut that bit off?
Try rubbing with oil
Do you eat the skin?
Parklife!
your fault for wanting to eat the thing
Is this really worth complaining about?
I think the pumpkins in the store around Halloween are non-eating pumpkins. Like they purposefully send the worst non-edible pumpkins to the stores for decorating and carving.
That’s a good looking sink
It’d be interesting to know if they’re selling them as food or as ornaments. Tax implications, food safety etc.
I’m not saying they are, just wondering.
They got in trouble a few years ago for selling Halloween costumes as toys rather than clothes. Minor difference in tax, huge difference in fire safety regs. That’s kind of relevant around Halloween. They still do this AFAIK, but now everything is well labelled.
Tbf who eats the rind?
Fucking hell, I was thinking the same thing this evening when I got two for carving. It was an absolute struggle trying to grt them off!
Non edible skin bitch – Tesco Manager
I’m beginning to think Tesco, Lidl and Aldi are having running PR battles on here.
Same happened me! FU Tesco is right.
WD40 will get rid of that, but maybe not wise if you are going to eat it.
I like to fry the rind in my non stick teflon pan, but maby due to the level of pumpkin 🎃 rind crispness I enjoy the best, it does indeed stick from time to time. This is where my pan knife comes into play, ya gotta get right in there and just dig away, I’ve noticed that the black layer on the pan is quite soft, well no match for my pan knife any how! Probably a feature of its non stickyness! And for some reason my food always seasons itself with pepper. Is a auto seasoning pan a thing? If so boy did I get the deal of the century!
Depending what the adhesive is made of try vodka first and if not try olive oil to dissolve it. Both food safe solvents at least
It seems like they see them mostly as an ornament. I’m not sure that would be acceptable though as they are a vegetable.
FSAI might be able to clarify: https://www.fsai.ie/about_us/contact_us.html.
If your cooking that, I would suggest you remove the area of skin with a sharp knife first.
Ah foilback labels never dissapoint
Mate yes! I’m the exact same tonight bought two pumpkins and both of them the sticker just came off in little pieces
Food safety? Nobody eats pumpkin skin😆
It’s dreadful and takes too much work to get it ready for consumption, this just feels like a needless moan
Dude. You’re not supposed to eat the skin.
Weird that some people think you can’t eat pumpkins..
Tesco pumpkin when they had the old label use to say not for eating.
Boiling water and the green side of the sponge . Works for most glue based problems .
