With power comes responsibility

  1. Must have been made by a landlord, they forgot to sketch in the police, politicians, and legal system standing between them and the grenades. Also left off the profit. Typical.

  2. a bit biased. you should edit it so the renter has his head over the the headboard tooting on the landlords member.

that would be a fair commentary.

  3. That’s making assumptions that landlords are taking care of all of those things. The reality is that a good chunk of them are failing to complete basic day to day maintenance on their properties, let alone taking care of repairs. A lot of renters would happily take all of the things that they’re “shielded” from instead of being financially shafted while they have no choice.but to settle for inadequate accommodation.

  4. Christ, I’m an accidental landlord and it is a mixed bag. It is a long term investment and all of those costs are part of the deal. Usually it starts out you lose money/break even. As time goes on you start to make a little bit of money, not much, at least for small time landlords. You get tax breaks on your expenses and you have to follow certain laws. The only small time landlords probably make big money are those who inherited properties, bought properties 20+ years ago or aren’t above board on taxes/regulations.

I will only really make money when the mortgage is paid off or when I die. Too many landlords think they should immediately make a lot of money but it is a house. It needs work. All the time. Just spent 4K replacing appliances and a door because that is what you do as a landlord! Christ. You would think with our history we learnt something about having fair landlords but we are the worst.
