The reality is that Sinn Fein gave up practically all their bargaining power in 2005, when they decided they wanted to be a more working class SDLP. If the British government decides it’s back to direct rule then it’s back to direct rule. And there’s not a single thing Sinn Fein can do about it
Well done the DUP, by next week the only functioning government with power in Northern Ireland will be the Dail!
(I know that’s not exactly how it works but it’s still kinda funny)
