Recently-retired Garda Inspector says Operation Citizen ‘under resourced and failing Dublin’

  1. Crime rates are through the roof all over the country, people getting suspended sentences, bail for all, every day, the crimes committed here are done by a majority of people out on bail. Soft sentences, we NEED more prisons but NIMBY stops it and incompetent govt and justice ministers.

  2. Young professionals, tourists and students are being harassed daily, victims of attack, robbery, crime. You should be able to walk down the main street of your capital city without being accosted. Period.

  3. I was walking around near the Aviva stadium last night during and after a match, and I must have seen 80-100 gardaí hanging around doing basically fuck all for hours.

When we have a dozen groups of literally 7 or 8 police officers “guarding” a couple of metal barriers at a crossroads for a rugby match on a Saturday evening, it’s not hard to see why they’re having resource problems elsewhere.

  4. We gave our Gardaí to the PSNI, we’re on our own unless the solution is doubling down on the war on drugs to finance NI gangs or evicting the poor or shaking down drivers.
