When did this exemption for asthma come in then? Not heard of it.
Fuck the Daily Mail, but also the same sentiment to the police – and especially those who’d not wear a mask correctly themselves but attempt to arrest someone else for not wearing a mask. Hypocrisy!
Not having a mask shouldn’t lead to police involvement, unless you start to cause trouble eg. get disruptive, violent, or refuse to leave.
Shops and services have every right to refuse service, but if a customer is exempt they should still offer alternative so not to fall foul of discrimination laws.
I am medically exempt, it causes me a lot of anxiety when I don’t wear a mask in public because I’m scared of being confronted, and this story doesn’t help.
Yes, many claim exemption when they shouldn’t, but just remember those who do genuinely have exemptions are often demonised along with them.
Edit: Not sure why I’m being downvoted, do y’all really think the police were in the right here? Are y’all a fan of the Daily Heil? Or do y’all just hate disabled?
Well done to the officers for making themselves and their force look like utter fools. Bonus prize for the one of them trying to arrest an exempt man for not wearing a mask whilst simultaneously not wearing a mask properly.
The divide strengthens. Compliance lowers yet again.
When are they going to arrest Boris Johnson for having parties during the Christmas lockdown?
I guess there are no real crimes being committed these days if the cops have time to go after this.
That cop trying to hastily fix his mask was comedy gold, what a fucking shambles the service is these days.
Definitely make a complaint about this and appeal it if they don’t do anything,
Hold the police to the same stupid rules they make us follow, them, politicians, everyone in power. Or it won’t ever end.
For those wondering, the facemask rules only apply to retail, hospitality(hotels and stuff) and public transport only. Restaurants and pubs currently don’t have the rules applied to them, so if the man who was arrested was planning to eat his food inside the subway then the officers have committed an unlawful action, as no crime was committed nor could suspicion of any crime be established.
