Tánaiste under fire for breaking ranks on Covid-19 measures

  1. Leo is a weird bloke. He will flip flop / pander on the most random issues to try score cheap favour, but also consistently drop the most asinine lines about healthcare and housing that would nuke a lesser TDs career.

I wouldn’t want to get him on a secret Santa that’s for sure.

  2. Wonder if it’s one of Leo’s FG colleagues bitching about him from the Cabinet table, or another party this time. Desperate to turn a pandemic into a party soap opera.

  3. “The reason for the new restrictions, which the Tánaiste supports, arises from concerns about increased social mixing in the run up to Christmas, the flu season and uncertainty about the omicron variant. ”

The flu season? If the flu season is being used as a reason for restrictions then we’re never going to be free from restrictions.

  4. He’s dead right. There is no evidence behind this decision. The hospital numbers dropped significantly the day after.

Also NPHET need to be silenced their role is to advise the government not to tell the whole country their advice before it goes to govt.

  5. A good leader is able to express themselves such that the maximum percentage of the audience has clarity.

Our leaders continue to fail at that. All it would take is a “we expect cases to rise over Christmas because of increased socialisation. To reduce the likelihood that the health service crumbles, we’re introducing restrictions and guidance that will reduce virus spread over this period. We want all numbers to continue dropping between now and Christmas. Please act responsibly.”

  6. He is doing everything and anything he can to keep hold of his seat. A sneaky unlikeable guy to the end I really do not know how anyone will vote for him again.
