But the USA is our BFF. We let them snoop our phones without repercussions. We let them use our house as a base for their criminal activities. Why break with this great relationship now? /s
Game on Game on, try it. They are not ready for the fight they are about to start
He is right, it is up to the small nations in the EU to stand up against any attempt to hurt Eastern Europes number 1 ally, the USA! Macron and Scholz are distracting from their failed economies and trying to put blame on the USA.
Latvia will veto if the EU tries to pull some nonsense. Macron and Scholz have lost all credibility and eastern Europe is seeing right through it. Europes true protectorates lay in the anglosphere
Seems good to me. And the US being all capitalist and stuff, I’m sure they would encourage fair competition and even field instead of state backed monopolies. Right ?
Can we get rid of NATO now? Specifically Western European countries. Give France, Germany and Italy over to Russia, let Putin deal with the headache of these two worthless men.
Germany and France wants to lead Europe by words but not by actions. We all could see who turned the fuck up when Europe was in need. It was not Germany, not France, but the US.
If Germany and France want to lead, they must show they can do so. Stop complaining that no one else is sending tanks to Ukraine and do it yourself. When you do stuff like that you are fit to lead. When you only drag your feet and make excuses, no one wants to follow you.
The US should strategically disengage from Europe. Remove our troops, bases, and nukes. If it were up to me we’d even repatriate the remains of Americans who lie in cemeteries on European soil such as the one at Normandy. The US should also pull out of NATO and let Europeans make what they want of it for their own defense. I don’t want any more Americans dying in foreign wars, and that includes Europe.
edit: I have no idea why r/Europe is so against this.
You guys need to stop reading politico. They are part of Axel Springer and will discredit Scholz whenever possible.
>Macron was the first to make the stark warning public. “We need a Buy European Act like the Americans, we need to reserve [our subsidies] for our European manufacturers,” the French president said Wednesday night in an interview with TV channel France 2, referring specifically to state subsidies for electric cars.
That seems pretty reasonable. I’m kind of surprised the EU doesn’t already encourage local manufacturing for electric vehicles, especially when considering Europe’s various oil exporting neighbors aren’t as stable or friendly as Mexico or Canada.
Most European countries already have laws that make vehicle imports from the US somewhat difficult. This is why the US accounts for 12% of EU car imports, whereas the US market accounts for 29% of EU car exports.
Due to the existing protectionist policies by European countries and the current trade imbalance, it doesn’t hurt the US much if European countries impose measures that negatively affect imports. European measures to curb trade cross atlantic trade have less impact when Europeans are already curbing cross atlantic trade.
It’s worth noting that the US subsidies essentially apply to any company manufacturing electric vehicles in the US, and basically every European manufacturer that sells cars in the US also has manufacturing plants in the US. BMW and VW both have substantial manufacturing operations in the US already. Likewise, US companies like Ford and GM both have considable operations in Europe that manufacture cars tailored to the European market- we’ll see if the EU’s equivalent “Buy European” measure is one intended to support local jobs or one to merely prop up companies whose historical founders happened to be of a particular nationality.
weren’t the two of them beefing a few days ago?
They aren’t wrong. If everyone else is subsidizing locally, we are the fools if we don’t.

Latvia’s def minister and deputy pm has asked Scholz and Macron who will support them? [https://twitter.com/Pabriks/status/1585732364709527552?cxt=HHwWgIDQteTL04EsAAAA](https://twitter.com/Pabriks/status/1585732364709527552?cxt=HHwWgIDQteTL04EsAAAA)
