If I recall didn’t it turn out that once the UK had even gone to the trouble of purchasing commercial GPS tracking information to assist the French in processing their application it turned out that some of the applicants had been lying and some licences ended up getting revoked?
They could just give up all together these fishing

Why threaten? It’s a perfectly logical way to resolve the dispute, get on with it if France has a strong case.
