I noticed during several recent years raising of very talented musicians who are making strong emotional music of very high quality.

There were obviously a lot of cool and very professional musicians in Poland all the time.

But I am talking about this recent strange wave of precise authenticity, which sound like direct transmitting of feelings and emotions from artist’s soul to your brain.

First example was Sanah. Not my favorite genre and part of emotional spectrum, so I am not listening for her/them constantly, but it’s a very bright example of such wave of artists.

Second example was “Kwiat Jabłoni”

And final shot was accidental finding of Hania Rani and I even didn’t know she is from Poland at first.
This is another one example of what I am talking about and btw perfect match with my taste.

It feels for like some bigger force is standing behind this.
Like there are some Great Teachers somewhere hidden in the depths of polish Music School and they managed to reach some peak point of perfectness in their career, so they were able to find such a talents, accept them into right school/university, discover best aspects of the talent, direct into right area / specialization and help those artists to develop their talents in a very right and precise way.

I mean there are always diamonds in the ore of people, and it’s especially true in case of Music/Polish people, but you first need to find them, then shape them perfectly to make a brilliant.

So am I right in my observations? Like starting maybe from 2016/17 we have it?
What else brilliants did I miss from this wave?
Please share.

  1. Yeah. I don’t like Sanah – I get why she is popular, her songs are well written, well produced, good melodies etc. I just find her almost child-like voice timbre annoying as fuck (though I like one song). Similar with Kwiat Jabłoni, I appreciate them but just… this “modern approach to sung poetry” is just not my cup of tea. In this modern pop genre I would add my favorite – Daria Zawiałow.

Hania Rani on the other hand is fantastic. And to think I found her by pure accident because her show turned up as youtube recommendation when watching something completely different. I never even heard anything about her, and I am so glad I now know her.

EDIT: And for Hania Rani, I especially love her “Inner Symphonies” album with Dobrawa Czocher. Weird mix between experimental classical music and something I would call… dark ambient? noir jazz? In the ballpark of some works of Bohren & der Club of Gore but slightly more melodic.

  2. yeah, I’d also like to know what’s up with this new wave of good Polish pop… My guess is that it’s not one new person behind all this but rather the opposite: some powerful figure in the industry (idk, a producer, composer or a lyricist…) retired and it allowed for some young creative people to try their own ways
