Lagere werkloosheiduitkeringen leiden werklozen niet naar werk

Misleading title, since there is no real decline…

  3. Always wondered what the true cost of unemployment system is, versus what is payed to the unemployed.

I for one have 4 personal coaches that I’ve never heard or seen in 6 years, and 1 that send a copy and paste email every year in July to ask how I’m managing at my forced volunteering work. (I work in a school, so even 30 seconds of involvement in my case, and they would know that I’m not working at that time)

… Apart from that I’ve also went to an education center for people with a handicap, with a in house staff of 1 for every 2 people taking a course. And many people there had to follow a course, while they themselve, the people from the education center and the personal coaches knew / agreed that the course would not give them any chance at work.

  4. My mother in law has been on de dop for about a year while she looked for jobs (employed now)

Her dop was about 100€ less than what she would earn for a fulltime job. For that job, she would have to:

    – wake up early every day, use the car to drive there, work 8 hours, drive the car back, cook for herself, watch some TV and then go to bed. Repeat next day.

She literally said “for 100€ less i do whatever i want every day, sleep in as much as i want, and i don’t have to drive my car every day which saves gas and tires”

Can’t blame her. But would personally never do it. I hate being unemployed while doing fuck all every day.

  5. 😶 ge moet net min lonen omhoog trekken.

  6. Yesterday I went to the VDAB to make myself known (I lived abroad and after coming back, I am not finding a job right away as I hoped). I knew the stories but it was idiotic to experience it myself. I had to sit at a desk with a telephone while at the desk at the side, a worker is sitting with her laptop. I had to call a number and tell all my details. The phone did not work or the operator was unavailable so the employee said that she will do it on her laptop. She asks my details and my highest degree. I say PhD. She says, ok so it’s gonna be Masters because we don’t have PhD in the system. Then she asks what jobs I am looking for. I say a broad sector (creative industries) but she says that is not possible. I have to be much more specific.

I have my CV but have to enter it again manually online at home. No way I can import my EU CV. I haven’t started entering it yet. I’ll just keep applying on my own without the ‘help’ from these clowns. That said, the employee was very friendly but she clearly cannot be of help for me and probably 90& of the people.

  7. I don’t understand how you can be unemployed in the current market. Everyone is screaming for more People. We’re not even interested in diplomas at the moment. Teaching on the job old school style and still nobody to be found. And it’s not just us, but the entire logistics sector. If you’re unemployed and willing to learn a thing or two, you’ve got work in an instant

Sounds to me like that, in practise, there’s very little actual degressivity or, at the very least, clearly not enough to impact one’s social benefits in a meaningful way. Actual lower benefits over time might thus encourage more to seek employment.
