Lithuanian Minister Hands in Resignation Over Belarus Sanctions – Bloomberg

  1. Lithuania wanted others to sanction Belarus but it had no appetite itself to stop potash cargo transiting via it’s railway to the port of Klaipeda after the U.S. imposed sanctions because it wants that sweet Belarusian cash. The economic activities of the Klaipeda seaport make up 6% of the national GDP so they wanted other EU countries to take the hit whilst they just fly flags and spam social media whilst still pocketing that cash. In fact, even up till today, they still haven’t banned Belarusian potash cargo from transitting. Anyway, most of that is now being diverted by Belarus to the Russian Baltic sea port from January.
