In my opinion there are several issues with that tomato soup action.
First of all I wouldn’t say that this action has brought people’s attention to the seriousness of global warming and the climate justice. What it indeed did is brought the attention to the people who did this and split up the people who already were concerned about the climate justice. Even if there was some initial message initially it is now completely lost and derailed. The fact that you had to make this video to justify that action instead of talking more about the climate justice itself only proves the previous point.
As many people said, using the similar tactics it would be much more better if they carried this action directly in front of the institution that does the much harm to the environment or legalize it. That would again split up the people but at least now the direct action would be a hit in the right direction.
Speaking personally the artist that they have chosen was the worst decision ever. If you know about the Vincent van Gogh and how much did he suffer during his life you would understand why.
