Villages are often not the sort of place you can live if you differ from the Middle England stereotype too much. Do things a different way or live some sort of alternative lifestyle (with the bar for alternative set very low) and locals will soon begin to comment and let the witch hunt begin. They like their kind of people and won’t tolerate any sort of difference in their village.
