‘Britain has more invasive and exotic animals than you imagine. Meet the search and rescue enthusiasts dedicated to capturing them and keeping them safe’
Hot take: if we decriminalise drugs we could focus our airport detection system on bio-security.
Also, for the love of god, please don’t import an exotic pet or plant. It seems draconian, but our whole ecosphere is already fucked with grey squirrels and invasive crayfish. Please don’t make it worse.
To be fair we should be focusing efforts on rural, wildlife and environmental crime – hugely destructive and yet is effectively under policed in the UK. Some rural County forces have no dedicated units at all.
The US actually has specific ‘police’ in most states with full arrest authority who’s job it is to regulate hunting, fishing, poaching and exotic animals – these are fish and game wardens, we could do with something similar in the UK.
