There are 3 species of cockroaches naturally occurring in Belgium: the german cockroach, the eastern cockroach and the house cockroach.
Nice to know: according to the Indoor Environment Decree, the guideline value for cockroaches is less than 1. This practically means that no cockroaches may be present in a home.

I studied in Namur. The university owned student housing had a cockroach infestation at the beginning of every year, and that was already 20-ish years ago.
Isn’t that the normal size for a cockroach? They seem to always been around 5cm in American movies and series.

I’ve seen Big ones before in “Antwerpen” at a friend’s house when I young the was house/building was invested with them so they could’ve grown big because of it?? It got fumigated later on btw. I also heard German Cockroach get big so there’s that.
It escaped from the berlaymont building in Brussels, kill it before it lays more politicians
just tryin to live its life i guess.

We get them a lot in California. Luckily they’re a species that lives outside and only wanders indoors when the temperatures are too hot or too cold outside. It probably traveled to Belgium in a crate of citrus or avocados.
That looks like an American Cockroach… The mostly live outside in humid areas.
Reference… I live in there and have seen these exact ones many time. Neighbors always said just kick them outside.
