The comments here are making me think that a lot of people just don’t understand that these people are genuinely trying to save the world by spreading awareness, as that’s one of the few things they can actually do. These people are being inconveniences, yes, that’s the point of their protests, but don’t go round saying they’re actually evil.
Edit: A lot of people are replying “they don’t need to raise awareness – we know about climate change” – well what these people are doing is building exposure so more people are talking about the climate. If you can think of a way for them to build as much conversation and attention as these guys WITHOUT being a disruption, I’m all ears. But this is the most effective way to bang the drum and get people talking about this.

Technically speaking them causing traffic jams actually has led to more pollution.

It’s sad how the police have become so politicised nowadays. Some protests are allowed to block traffic and others aren’t, depends what the protest is about. Some statues you can smash up, some you cant, depends on the statue. I thought the police were to keep law and order but not so any more.
I was there at mansion House yesterday. Pretty much everyone walking past was in support.
Police did a good job of closing off the streets much further back to where the protestors were to keep the angry drivers away.
I just hope supressing peaceful protests isnt going to lead to violence. Even though it is starting to seem inevitable.
Are people not paying attention to the science? Millions of people will die.
People like to look at ww2 and imagine they’d be at the front opposing the nazis. What we are realising is most people would have said – nah fuck Europe lets just look after ourselves.
I think both sides of the argument are right or wrong.
Just stop oil/Insulate Britain, blocking people getting to worst to make people aware of climate change getting attention from media etc. But are affecting people getting to work and becoming an inconvenience to them.
Then you have the people who are affected going to work who should not be targeted. But how else are they meant to protest that will get attention.

I mean don’t address the issues, that’s going to work with the doctors, train workers and the rest just attack them and claim their extremists not suffering under 12 years of Tory austerity! Plenty of money for your donors, and shell but fuck reforming the markets, strengthening workers rights.
Just take the trains £400 million in profit last year, they need to make 100 million savings! I found it and they still get £300 million in profit without touching workers rights! No layoffs! Privatisation has destroyed this country! Its not the 80’s anymore the tax cuts were paid for by the growth caused by privatisation. We can’t replicate that! It’s already been sold off! We need actual growth from the bottom up! Money moving through the economy creates growth! That’s why the trickle down doesn’t work they horde it and so stock buy backs instead of stimulating the economy 🤷🏼♂️ literally every study on trickle down economics proves that model!

Perhaps they could protest China National Coal Group, who singlehandedly account for 14% of world greenhouse gas emissions, instead of making the lives of ordinary working people more difficult.

I say get your lives sorted first, then try help the people you know do the same. Chances are these people can’t get their shit together and they go around trying to save the world.
I would think TFL would have better things to waste their time and the public’s money on than harassing protestors, but I guess they want to send a message to Joe public that protesting will just result in law suits and fines.
