World record: The worlds longest passenger train completed its journey!

  1. Some facts about the train and its journey:
    – total length of 1910 meters
    – ride of 25 kilometers and 800 height meters from Preda to the Landwasser-viaduct on the UNESCO protected Albulastrecke.
    – 25 railcars of the type “Capricorn” pulled this train, each having 4 wagons attached
    – they summed up to a power of 35’000 horsepower
    – could fit 8600 passangers
    – weighs about 3000 tons
    – it took 7 train drivers and 21 technicians to manage this beast
    – using recuperation they could recycle 4000 kWh of electricity during this ride (yearly used electricity of 3 family households)
    – communication between the drivers was established through a military cable phone system
