Nestle is not just for Xmas or any other time of the year
Aliens would look at factory farming and decide not to visit
Your weekly reminder that an industry that profits off animal cruelty does not care about animal welfare. Names like ‘The Happy Egg Company’ or pictures of smiling animals on packaging are misnomers and designed to make it seem like companies treat animals as something other than objects.
Your 99p hotdogs in IKEA can no way come from happy pigs.
b-b-b-but stressed meat tastes bad! I read it once so it must be true!
I think we can all agree that we should always be seeking to improve animal welfare and ensuring that the animals we need for food live the most comfortable and happy existence possible before they go to slaughter. Stories like this are very troubling and only serve to make me more diligent in regards to making sure where my food comes from.
This isn’t surprising in any way, it’s actually standard across the board in pig farming with UK farms being no better. Pig farming is legal animal abuse.
Many pigs will have their tails and teeth mutilated. This is done because the conditions in pig sheds often cause distress and the pigs resort to attacking each other for stimulation.
This isn’t news, these messed up conditions are common as fuck. Your friendly family farmer would tell you they have standards but that doesn’t stop the next Joe up the road kicking the animals and leaving them in their own shit
EDIT: Yeah, it should be in the news though
It’s not a surprise, all these farms that get their little ‘Certified’ labels get it and then the standards drop quicker than diarrhea.
As a follower of a plant based diet I do struggle with how some people just do not care about this, I’m not one of the ones who will preach a plant based diet as this stuff should surely be enough to turn people away from the meat industry, but it just isn’t.
I mean the company is owned by Nestle. I am not surprise.
That Mirror website, even with an adblocker is aids on mobile.
Just go vegan, stop giving these monsters your money because “it tastes better”.
So you’re telling me an industry that profits off of the murder and mutilation of animals doesn’t care about animals? I’m shocked!
And if you think *your* brand of mutilated corpses are somehow ‘good’, you’re a moron. All animals enslaved and murdered for human consumption are treated inhumanely – you can’t ethically murder a living being that doesn’t want to die.
If you’re not vegan then you’re a part of this problem.
These stories about abuse and poor standards in the farming and livestock industry are pretty commonplace and have been for a considerable length of time. Sure everyone says how awful it is and how they definitely will go vegetarian or switch to higher welfare meat, but the market share for budget end meat products clearly tells a different tale.
At what point is it fair to say that Britain on the whole just doesn’t really give a shit about animal welfare standards in the food industry?
Animal Cruelty At Its Highest! Should be fined. Should also be blocked and blacklisted from selling in the UK.
People will read this and the cognitive dissonance will still continue. If you can’t afford to eat ethical meat, don’t eat it.
Corporations do not care about animal welfare, hell, they’d serve you immigrate children hotdogs if you’d buy them.
The French have always had a habit of treating animals barbarically. And to think people were concerned that with Brexit the UK might let animal welfare standards slip.
Well folks, I give you European animal welfare standards. Lovely stuff isn’t it. So so worth protecting.
Poor animals! I eat meat but I can’t stand to see animals abused in this way.
I worked as a butcher (Goddards butchers, Kent, England) for 3 years when I was younger. I had just split a side of beef, I’d taken most of the major muscles off and was just preparing a Silver side joint when a customer walked in and asked for half of the joint I was preparing. I cut the joint in half and was instantly engulfed by a really foul smell. I looked for the source of the smell; the cow had had cancer and I cut straight through the tumour. You’ve never smelled anything like it, such a nasty smell. The tumour was almost as big as the entire Silver side joint, that cow must have been in agony! The whole joint had to go in the bin as the tumour made up more than 95% of that muscle.
It’s funny because I’ve just come from the dogs subreddit where any dissent from the idea that feeding your dog anything but Nestle is tantamount to animal cruelty. Even though Nestle (and similar) have fully infiltrated virtually every vet, university and textbook. They literally have nestle employees on staff at these places.
Disgusting but, no more disgusting then cutting their throats whilst alive and then hung up to bleed out whilst some idiot prays over it. When are these people going to go to Hala factories and call out Islam for it disgusting practices.
Isn’t capitalism Incredible. There’s no profit in treating animals with respect.
Thank fuck I stopped eating them when I was 5 😅
That ain’t good man 😕
“Asda, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco” should have to display the conditions of these animals in their stores and on their websites above the product.
I’ve been a diehard meat eater all my life and had you asked me last year whether I’d ever become vegetarian I’d have told you to bugger off.
But now, having seen so many articles about how animals are kept in the UK, I’m seriously considering it. I’d miss chicken and burgers, but I am starting to wonder whether I’d miss them as much.
And this is the face of factory farming… these animals living their entire lives in stalls. I wonder how long it’ll take for people to say “enough is enough” and stop supporting this mess.
The taste of meat isn’t worth the amount of suffering.
Genuinely how the fuck can this even be happening? These animals didn’t ask to be brought into the world, I feel sick. Fuck the people involved in this.
95% of Indians are vegetarians. Eating meat is not encouraged in our Vedas (although not banned). I am sure if 1.3 billion people can survive and become CEOs of top tech companies on the world, take top positions in governments just by eating veggies, I am sure the rest of the world can do it as well.
Just stop eating meat and other animal products. It’s not that difficult. You’ll be a lot healthier and be doing the planet a huge favor.
No different to the miserable mother pigs and their babies in the UK before the slaughterhouse. Care about pigs welfare it’s easy and simple. Go vegan assures you know no pigs are being abused and killed in their millions.
Just a PSA that McDonalds, Costa, Neros, Starbucks, Tesco, Gregg’s have absolutely banging vegan food and drinks for Christmas, most of which tastes like the meat version, so give it a try! I was the biggest meat lover but I’ve now been veggie for 6 years. There’s such good food out there now. Companies have really woken up to it.
