>”When I first met her she didn’t know I was building this,” he said.
>”She knew I leased a mill with a huge basement, but I kind of led her to believe I was a wine merchant because that sounded cooler than building a model railway.”
Loved this part.
Sorry the titles a bit weird, BBC shenanigans.
It’s a bit concerning that no-where in the article is there any comment about how his (hopefully still) girlfriend feels about it.
Or whether he’s now single
She thought he was having an affair, turns out the truth was far worse.
Hundreds of model rail enthusiasts attended the event in the hope of finding out how Mr George managed to find a girlfriend
I think it’s a shame making model railways gets shit on so much as a hobby, to the point where someone feels they have to hide it from their partner like its a shameful secret. The creativity and attention to detail that goes into these layouts is incredible.
Come on BBC, don’t tease us! We need more pictures!
“He could have been into hardcore BDSM or scat and I would not have minded, but model railways?”
When they say women loves nerds, you can bet this is not what they have in mind.
I would pay money to see this. This could be an amazing tourist attraction.
Wouldn’t a 3.5l V8 [Rover SD1 Vitesse ](https://i.imgur.com/7dgGaL6.jpg) have been a bit spicy for your average train spotters?
Just saying… The “Great British Model Railway Challenge” on Channel 5 is great TV. Its on My5.
Covid fucked them making more, I want more!
We really should teach that getting into a relationship doesn’t mean having to give up a hobby. Nearly everyone who told me that advise growing up (was told you won’t be able to enjoy x anymore now you’re dating) ended up divorced and so far happily with someone who enjoys the same hobbies
