Had he done the opposite the headline would read: “Labour Insiders Say Front Bench of Talentless Yes-Men Could Be Keir Starmer’s Undoing”.
Whatever he does half the party will hate him. This is the problem with the system in this country – who gets political briefs has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with competence. This is true at every level.
Having no clear policies or opposition could be Kier Starmer’s undoing. Then again, do voters want policy or do they just want a nice man in a suit and tie that looks alright?
The fact that the names on people’s lips are Blairites like Yvette and David Lammy, should show how lost we are in this country.
We’re in a climate emergency created by capitalism. And our politics is unable to brook anything other than 90s neoliberalism.
