What a beautiful movie I have discovered,very deep meaning and beautifully interpreted,why this movie is not Famous in Greece??maybe people’s who downvoted this are leftists
This was a very controversial movie in greece when it came out,due to it’s portrayal of leftists. I haven’t watched myself but it may explain why it has stayed under the radar so many years later.

I just wanted to share, a film that excited me, I wanted opinions about it because where I was born and raised there are no Greeks, apart from my family when I go on vacation to Greece, I have no other people to compare and have a discussion about culture, Politics or even Greek music.Mine was not meant to be a political post but simply a starting point for discussion to enrich myself culturally and perhaps find some Greek friends with whom to discuss Panathinaicos or simply Greece that I miss so much … unfortunately I only have time the summer to enjoy it, then the rest of the year the work does not allow me to take vacation to 🇬🇷

I liked the movie, but the book was better. It leaves you with the dissatisfaction that the collaborators with the Germans got Scot free and prospered.
There is a lot of passion on left/ right issues in Greece, because of the aftermath of the civil war, that left most issues unresolved. The right wing won (some of the right wing supporters had been collaborators) and the leftists lost, but their punishment was extreme, and they won people’s sympathy.
There were the leftists and rightists who were idealists, there were the opportunists from both sides. There were the robbers and murderers who found a new occupation.
My father was an idealist. He didn’t fight with the Communists, but he did hide those persecuted, as he believed that they fought for a more just world.
However, he told me that one of the guerillas fighting with the Communists had come to their house and demanded food at gun point. He proceeded to cut the bread given with a bloody knife, refusing my grandmother’s offer to clean it as he enjoyed the “fascists’ blood”.
