  1. same in Lithuania… I think that’s stupid.. What a waste and trash after all…

  2. I love the candles on the cementery! I even had a walk on a nearby cementery today!

  3. My family lives near a cemetery in Ołsztyn, it has graves dating back to the days of the German empire. Their made of cobblestone and have been degraded beyond repair, but they always have a light on them. Puts a smile on the face

  4. The tradition of visiting graves was beautifully preserved in Poland. My father told me a story about how his colleagues were once in Arnhem, Holland, and decided to visit the local cemetery where among the graves were those of polish soldiers. They met an old man there and talked with him a bit, and when he learned their nationality he was moved so deeply he cried. He said, as far as he remembers, the only ones who ever visited this place to pay respect were Poles. I think it really shows an aspect of us that not many people know of.

  5. I learned some new stories about my greatgreatgrandparents throughout this weekend

  6. Ah yes grobbing, always went 2 days prior, cuz my dad is always working on the all saints day

  7. When I was a kid we would visit and have lunch clean the area and just hang out for a few hours.

  8. I visited Poland this summer and passed by a cemetery, it was really beautifull and well maintained.

  9. I find the culture of visiting graves very, very touching, I helped rebuild one in Poland last weekend in readiness for the holiday.

….that being said, I do think it is a colossal money making scheme that creates an unnecessary amount of waste (about 20 large apartment-size bins overflowing with candle holders , plastic and real flowers), I visited with an elderly nun (distant family) and she agreed!

  10. I love late evening walks thru cemetery during All Saints Day. ❤️

  11. foreigner here. guys, don’t get me wrong, i’m not some sick fuck that celebrates death or something, but your cemeteries are so damn amazing. they are so well organized, with beautiful gravestones, they are so calm. i sometimes really feel like taking a slow walk through the cemetery here, just to be in silence for a few minutes and relax. and when i see something like this, i’m just stunned. i didn’t know about the tradition of visiting your relatives’ graves on november 1st and when today i saw all those candles and lights on the local cemetery… it was impressive, really

poles keep making me inspired by their culture, that means a lot, at least to me
