You have power, Rishi Sunak. Use it. Rejoin the single market and customs union | Jürgen Maier

  1. Single market to trade goods and services. Yes. European Union with the European court of justice having the last word, the European army and what plug an iPhone can have. No

  2. 1. He’d be out faster than Truss and Boris Johnson would be back in.
    2. Sunak is a committed Brexit nutcase. He actually believes in this stuff, unlike the others (Johnson especially) who just saw it as a bandwagon to power.

  3. This would mean returning to the Freedom of Movement as well. He’s about to appoint Braverman as the Home Secretary. You might as well be asking for the moon.

  4. He has power and will use it as he sees fit, not how a Guardian journalist tells him to do so. He will do what is best for himself, the Tories and their donors; he will do it in that order. He is going to follow the 2019 mandate and that will mean sticking with Brexit and trying to forge new trade deals across the world. It won’t be great for the economy as a whole but it will benefit those who Sunak wants to get close to, that is exactly why he wants to be in power to begin with.

  5. Even if he wanted to, and he doesn’t, Sunak would be torn apart by his own party if he suggested joining the SM or CU.

  6. Sunak axis is Mumbai / London / Sillicon Valley

He has exactly ZERO clue about the EU.

And putting back the other nutcase again in Home Office says it all.
