  5. Got to remark on the asymmetry between this, and openly portraying Corbyn as a Stalinist villain and Sunak as Superman on the news. It appears that BBC impartiality nowadays is only a thing when it can be weaponised against critics of the Tory regime.

    The BBC has been captured by the Tory party and they’re barely bothering to hide it. Because they know there are still enough uninformed right wingers about who’ll swear up and down the BBC is sOcIaLiSt because they don’t bar non-straight/non-white people from appearing on telly.

    This morning they had a far right commentator claiming the Americans were worried about the cognitive capabilities of their president and Europeans were rioting for food, to defend chaos in the Tory party…

  14. What she did might be unprofessional, but the whole “impartiality” is weird. Journalists should let people know that it is stupid when presenting something objectively ridiculous (i.e, an ex-PM resigned in disgrace three months ago trying to become again). Aiming for impartiality only helps normalize the ridiculousness.

This is so ridiculous, it’s more impartial to be pleased that a corrupt, lying, lazy, sex pest protecting crook if a man is not going to be PM than to pretend it’s normal that he was even considered for a return to that job! It’s also impartial to call Steve Baker a cunt, it’s just facts. The Tories are objectively awful. Objectively. Just look at the state of them and the state of the country. It’s far more biased to act like they’re just a normal political party full of normal people.
