I may hate the BBC, but that statement alone should get her a raise
Kay Burley of Sky News must be absolutely livid at this level of professionalism.
And she is talking about one of the most partisan PM’s of our time.
Give her a raise not a suspension.
Edit:
_Oh… I forgot, the Tories are putting the boot into the BBC for not being impartial and threatening to cut their funding…_
To be honest she should have known better, all it takes is one bitter right-winger to see this and it’ll be all over facebook for the rest of them to complain.
I despise Johnson but that’s weirdly unprofessional.
Got to remark on the asymmetry between this, and openly portraying Corbyn as a Stalinist villain and Sunak as Superman on the news. It appears that BBC impartiality nowadays is only a thing when it can be weaponised against critics of the Tory regime.
The BBC has been captured by the Tory party and they’re barely bothering to hide it. Because they know there are still enough uninformed right wingers about who’ll swear up and down the BBC is sOcIaLiSt because they don’t bar non-straight/non-white people from appearing on telly.
> “Am I allowed to be this gleeful? Well I am.”
That’s probably not a goer for sure
I like how multiple BBC reporters and journalists were just allowed to lie outright about Labour and Corbyn without any consequence but get slapped down with bans if they’re even remotely perceived to say something political about the Tories.
While I might agree with her, it’s right that she’s taken off air for this.
BBC Impartiality is false balance.
Can’t call Trump a racist as he sides with white supremacists and open “alt right” people but you can mock up Corbyn as Stalin.
They’ve been approaching a point where a NASA scientist would have to be debated by a Flat Earther for their “balance” as the government tries to turn them more into FOX News every year.
What about Laura Kuenssberg?
> In March 2022 it was announced that Kuenssberg would be replacing Andrew Marr, in a full-time role, as the host of BBC One’s flagship Sunday morning politics show, starting in September 2022.
Okay then.
So it’s breach of impartiality when it’s any moment of criticism towards a rightwinger, even if that rightwinger has previously literally been removed from office for breaking laws… but when it’s Fiona Bruce shouting leftwingers down or Laura Kuenssberg making up fake news about assaults on rightwing politicians by leftwing activists, oh, that’s just lefties complaining if they have an issue with that.
We see you, BBC.
Was watching this and she also started giggling at a joke that was at Boris’ expense. Maybe she had a glass of champagne before going on air and decided to ‘let rip’.
This is where the infiltrated bbc need a clean up. Yesterday they produced Johnson’s statement as fact without analysis….despite it clearly being a lie.
This morning they had a far right commentator claiming the Americans were worried about the cognitive capabilities of their president and Europeans were rioting for food, to defend chaos in the Tory party…
What she did might be unprofessional, but the whole “impartiality” is weird. Journalists should let people know that it is stupid when presenting something objectively ridiculous (i.e, an ex-PM resigned in disgrace three months ago trying to become again). Aiming for impartiality only helps normalize the ridiculousness.
I do sympathise with her thoughts but it’s very annoying that she’d say this sort of thing because it’s the perfect fuel to right-wing folk that are convinced the BBC is an evil, socialised corporation that needs to be shut down.
They latch on to these things and repeat them in their little circlejerks
They want to be impartial by glossing over large anti-government protests in London or talking about how the Queen was essentially Christ reincarnated for 3 weeks.
BBC can’t be trusted. It’s basically the daily mail but on TV.
What the fuck is wrong with people? She’s excited about events! That something happened on cue for her normally tedious political blah blah fest! She’s not a fucking idiotic enough to stage a political celebration and if that’s how you read it you need to take a screen break.
I know the BBC has rules, and I know people love to overstate “it’s like living in Russia/North Korea/East Germany” etc – but “News presenter removed from air for laughing at politician” does make it incredibly easy to think that.
This is a perfect example of BBC bias. She says her opinion and is suspended but Laura K published an article that Boris had never told a lie in his life and she got a TV show
BBC are never impartial if you’re a supporter of Scottish independence.
Blimey Reddit I’m disappointed. Have any of you actually watched the whole segment or just the short clip that a very ring wing fellow pushed out on Twitter?
You’re completely missing the context of what she’s smiling about.
This is so ridiculous, it’s more impartial to be pleased that a corrupt, lying, lazy, sex pest protecting crook if a man is not going to be PM than to pretend it’s normal that he was even considered for a return to that job! It’s also impartial to call Steve Baker a cunt, it’s just facts. The Tories are objectively awful. Objectively. Just look at the state of them and the state of the country. It’s far more biased to act like they’re just a normal political party full of normal people.
But it’s fine for the BBC to parrot the unsubstantiated lie that Boris had passed the 100 MP threshold which could well have resulted in him getting enough MPs to get him over the line.
It’s fine to have a backdrop of Corbyn tinted red wearing a Russian hat during ‘impartial debates’.
It’s fine to wish Boris success in the election win he ‘truly deserves’.
Where was this for anyone speaking about corbyn and why is Fiona Bruce still employed?
But it’s ok to report that Boris Johnson has 100 backers
Should have done a very specific kind of impartiality
ITT: Tory sympathisers pretending others are crazy for acknowledging the fact that the Tories have packed the BBC with their yesmen the whole time they’ve been in government, and suspiciously avoiding comments that actually link to articles backing that up.
More of the same “I’m still right if I don’t admit I’m wrong” shit they’ve been pulling for years. Absolute dwarves of intellectual honesty.
Utter rubbish. BBC only breaches impartiality when it effects the govt.
The nonsense they spouted over Brexit presenting deliberately misleading and misleading content was unbelievable.
Did she tell the truth about him to pearl clutching Tory viewers with memory issues?
> “It’s all a little bit, you know, lastminute.com isn’t it?”
This is the absolutely sickening part. Not just the advertising, but the sad, thoughtless repetition of the branding.
Like someone repeating ‘simples!’ in an exaggerated tone.
And when Fiona Bruce shows her allegiance to the rotten Tories, nada
I was watching live and took it as, “It’s so exciting to be presenting a late night show about tomorrow’s newspapers at the same time as the newspapers are desperately rewriting their headlines!”
It’s her giggling fit at one of the contributor’s jokes and saying, “I’m probably breaking some terrible due impartiality rule by giggling” that’s done for her, I expect
I thought it was funny
She started the later programme without her mic, pretty sure she’d had a telling off and Tony Grew had been told to reign himself in
She’s completely allowed to be gleeful that sack of shit pulled out yes.
So exactly like this but on the opposite end of the political system?
https://skwawkbox.org/2019/12/11/video-reporter-for-impartial-bbc-says-johnson-so-deserves-victory/
Or the time that they edited out the boos at jubilee towards the end of Johnson’s tenure for the evening broadcast.
Axe them I say. Can’t be impartial if you don’t exist.
TBH all the BBC reporters have been obviously expressing their opinions lately. I’ve quite liked seeing them look at Tories and think “you fucking moron”.
Isn’t she saying she’s gleeful about the political drama to discuss, not necessarily gleeful because Johnson pulled out?
Laura Kuensberg had her mouth firmly around Boris’s arsehole the entire time he was in power, yet she was never called for being impartial. Absolutely absurd.
They’ve had political editors who were literal card carrying tories up until they got the job, who were leaders of the young conservatives at university, and who were absolutely in bed with Dominic Cummings “sources say”…
but apparently this is intolerable.
It’s the BBC having an opinion is not allowed
However if you want to molest kids for the best part of 40 years then crack on
Joke of an organisation
Yet Kuenssberg remains on the air despite numerous rule breaches and blatant favouritism.
Surely Nadine Dorries is breaching impartiality by intervening with her Nineteenth Century ideological quips? Perhaps she should be suspended?
Still waiting for the 2 weeks of anti-monarchy content that our balanced and impartial broadcasting service should be providing.
