I’m researching my Finnish side – can you help me translate these names (and dates) once more? I’ve finally found the right record on a difficult line on our Finnish side!

  1. The ones that I know:

Emanuel or Emamer (I think the latter is not a common Finnish name)

    Victori

with the last name of Korppi.

  2. Some middle names appear to end with a ‘p’ and a full stop. I believe it is an abbreviation of ‘poika’ (son), as on the second to last row: Juho Simonp. (cannot interpret the last name). The first names would thus be Juho Simonpoika.

  3. Also the area is listed as Mikkelin maakunta, Muolaan seurakunta. But written at the top of this tax list is something like “Sokinla” or “Sokiala”? Does that ring a bell? Doesn’t seem right by Google. The computer transcriber seemed to think this is the residence place.

  4. What I’m seeing:

    Imanuel Elianp. Korppi

    Maria Eliant. Kokko

    Vihtori Emanuelinp. Korppi

    Juho Simonp. Ki(m/n)ila??

    Amanda Samuelint. Korppi

Edit: or actually it might be Amanda Emanuelint. Korppi.

  5. I can’t tell you how much the help means to me! Finally I get some movement on this side, and with your help narrowed down the names in just 30 minutes or so, instead of the hours and days it would have taken me.

  6. Emanuel Elianp.oika (son of Elia) Korppi

V(Wife) Maria Eliantytär (daughter of Elia) Kokko

P (Son) Vihtori Emanuel’s son Korppi

Ki(hlattu, betrothed) Juho ,son of Simo, Kivilahti
T (dauhgter) Amanda Emanuel’s daughter Korppi
