maybe because swiss people try to not ever visit the doctor, if it is avoidable, because they pay all by themself. or at least the first 4000 chf. and i guess about 90% of the population only pay and never see any benefet of it.
– „bad healthcare”
– top 15 in the world
a little more than 2 points is maybe not a big deal. compare it to taiwan witch is 9 point more than thailand or 11 from swiss. for me it looks like taiwan is way batter and swiss/thailand are almost the same.
edit: you dont show the exp. heathcare colum and if you order them by them swiss is rank 10 compared to thailland at rank 8. the diffrent is 0.65 points (swiss 140.65 thailand 141.3).
Who is Numbeo?
What’s this ranking, what’s the source, what are the criteria?
Thailand a third world country????
Clearly it’s because it’s too expensive
its free? Nothing is free in Switzerland
Haha 1rd country but all my aged co-worker can’t afford implanted teeth, they all have fake dental.
The idea that healthcare in Thailand is free & better than in Switzerland is quite funny.
Here’s the facts:
Yes, there is very good healthcare available in Thailand. But that’s in private clinics that are *completely unaffordable* for the average inhabitant of Thailand. Those clinics cater to the richest Thais and to wealthy foreigners whose pensions are at least 10x as high as what the average Thai makes.
The cheap governement hospitals in Thailand on the other hand… well, let’s say it like this: I certainly wouldn’t want to end up there rather than in a Swiss clinic.
Well according to the website this ranking is based on surveys from their own website visitors. So there is already a huge selection bias.
And if I interpret their [Java Code](https://www.numbeo.com/health-care/indices_explained.jsp) correctly the questions seem to be more about how happy people are with the healthcare in their country and less about an objective relative comparison of country A to country B. So take the results with a grain of salt.
But I guess it could very well be that the Swiss healthcare system ranks lower because its quite expensive and (apparently) pretty inefficient.
Maybe cause in this countries people who cant afford privat clinics can’t afford computers to vote on random internet sites?
MD here. I worked in Switzerland, UK, Germany and Italy. I know very good the french and Us system. IMO the swiss health system should be in the top 5.
Thailand is not a third world country, to be fair. Also, the study seems to be a bit biased because of the surveys.
Oh look it’s this guy again…
In my home country it was also “free” and I think healthcare here is much cheaper and AMAZING.
hahahaha retard
1. Top 15 is not bad and various other rankings place us further up.
2. Thailand is not a third world country but an industrialized nation with a higher life expectancy than the US. Just because you can’t understand it doesn’t make it wrong. If you look at the ranking, you may realize that Asia is ahead. That’s not a coincidence, and something that will be common in the 21st century.
3. Our largest problem is cost. The level and quality of care is among the best there is.
This is bogus. France so well ranked is a joke and just by that tells how absurd is this ranking
If you have money, Thailand is great.
Why on earth would you just post a ranking without even mentioning what the measure is?
Reducing a whole countries healthcare system to a single number requires a fair few assumptions, and given it seems this measure is just a poll, it’s laughably useless.
Why is that so surprising, I feel like the problem here is you holding yourself at such a high standard thinking „third world country“ can’t have better health care system, wtf does „third world country“ even mean?
Get off your high horse; self entitlement and having this weird notion that Switzerland should be the best at everything, try being happy, I imagine a lot of „third world countries“ rank better in happiness
I don’t think there is a “free” health care anywhere check the payslip details.
What is specially in Switzerland regarding that, is that the government gives you all your money and it’s your responsibility to find a suitable health care coverage. While for other countries, mostly the the top of the list you shared, they you pay it in the end as higher taxes.
Easy: Politicians corrupted by lobbies
Why are you in airplane mode and have Wifi on at the same time?
Statistic bullshit i would say.
The survey is based on people visiting their website. That is not a reliable source. And even if it were Top 15 isn’t bad. And Thailand isn’t a third world country.
So overall, this whole post is pointless
Now compare average life expectancy to healthcare cost…
Are your healthcare needs satisfied here in Switzerland, OP?

There is no such thing as free health care.
There is nothing such as a free lunch…
No. Just no. Proof: https://www.reddit.com/r/Switzerland/comments/xfnrgw/every_swiss_medical_specialty_combined_saved_my/
It is never free. What a ridiculous thing to write. How do you think the people and materials get paid?
It’s not bad it’s just expensive
Free my ass. Had to pay over 200 for a bloodtest
Don’t be so chauvinistic please.
