Mersch Center Completely Flooded from Luxembourg

  1. I live nearby, all the fields west of downtown Mersch are lakes. The small river about 100 meters next to my house is also flooded already overflowing in the street.

The water level is 189 cms above the ‘alert’ level. Hydrology reports went from last night to this morning’s time from once every 2 year flood to once every 100 years occurrence.

From what i’ve seen, Germany, Belgium, south Netherlands (Limburg) are as badly or worse impacted.

Towns (too many to list) are completely flooded… cars floating around, torrents in the streets – i can’t imagine the property and moral cost of this…

Dams are being opened and cant keep up… Since yesterday rainfall has been between 30 to 100 liters per sq meter for the duration of 48 hours… Hopefully it will stop tonight…

Courage and best of luck to all affected.

  2. Shouldnt we start a Megathread for this topic?

Whats happening in the east right now is a disaster and Echternach is getting evacuated.

Some people might need more informations, because, as you know its always hard to get news here in Luxembourg.

Some people might also need help and our community used to be very helpful.

Most western european supreddits have Megathreads for this right now.

    What do you think?

  3. Where do you call to help as a Citizen? Tomorrow I cancel all plans and help. (It is my second time, Oderbruch was first LOL)
