This is about the 7th message I’ve gotten from someone saying they’ll take the item by sending a courier. Obviously, my response is just having a bit of a laugh, entertainment for myself.
But jeez they’re relentless. Different person everytime.
Disclaimer: have never sold on FB before so Im ashamed to say nearly fell for it on the first message, a lady said she’d send a courier and asked for my address. Said i had to pay insurance, but she’ll reimburse this and not to worry. Told them I was a bit unsure of the process, and they got quite aggressive, saying it’s perfectly fine. I asked where she was from and they named a local town (clearly googled) and then said I prefer an in person collection and she just left the chat.
Biggest lesson here – these scammers have regular people’s photos on their profiles, kids pictures and all…. Just goes to show you don’t know WHO the Fk is looking at you on FB, and possibly stealing your pics….
Yep, had one person wanting me to pay the €100 insurance to the courier for €40 worth of paw patrol. Fully reimbursed of course.
Email address was dhlcourier234@gmail or something like that.
Trying to sell a desktop computer recently and got 58 of these messages in 15 days before I finally got a legitimate offer and sold it.
Yeah, can be fun to play along for a bit to scam them back, but generally a pain in the arse if you’re selling a few items.
Yes, a couple of times, I wasn’t arsed to keep stringing them long enough to find out what the actual scam is though,
Yeah I just tell them to go fuck themselves and to get an actual job rather than try to scam someone.
My favourite thing to do is to tell them yes and then follow up with “Could we organise it for collection from my work, I’m a Garda and my hours are odd so if we could sort it for the station that’d be great.”

Is this a case of both sides being scammers?

Funnily enough, I never hear back from them.
