They were treated like all the other British children groomed and raped.

That’s inclusive of the British Police
I wish this was a surprise but it’s not. The police treat British rape victims as it they’re the ones under suspicion. Why would they be any different with victims or sex trafficking?
The worst bit is, victims of trafficking are far less likely to have a support network around them to help them understand what’s going on and what the proper investigative process *should* be. Some of them may not even understand the language well enough to be able to tell that they’re under suspicion.
It’s so unfair. I hope things change.
The writer is using the word “trafficking” quite liberally here to include people who fall for scams on dating apps. Theres a world of difference between someone who is literally kidnapped and brought to isis against their will, and someone who joins them willingly but possibly under false pretences (like Shamima Begum).
And if one of your family members goes off to join isis (even under false pretences), it’s perfectly reasonable for the police to investigate whether or not you are also involved.
By “trafficked” I take it the author means: made a video that said “so long suckers, I’m off to join god’s army” then snuck off on their own volition to do just that.
