Morals ? Tories ?
Come on Dorries, this is surely getting too embarrassing!!
it’s avoidable until they have to have one due to time or governmental collapse, i.e. it’s avoidable for 2 years if the idiotic MP’s want to keep their jobs and be part of the party in power.
I don’t really see why it’s morally unavoidable, they’re complying with procedures and precedents, although I don’t recall 3 PM’s in one year.
I don’t see them calling for an early election while they’re facing a wipe out.
Nads is just salty her beloved Boris wasn’t able to get 100 backers, and there’s no reason a party that was happy to get behind Truss should suddenly have a turn towards morality and electoral legitimacy now they’re getting Sunak.
It’s all very strange, I presume her willingness to have an early election is heavily mixed in with her assumption she’s going into the House of Lords (though there does appear to be some pushback, as she lied to the Culture Committee)
They dont have any strong leaders and so want to avoid an election. That said they aren’t likely to get any in all this chaos. They are delaying the inevitable.
It’s tempting to accept the prediction of such a colossus of political analysis as Nadine Dorries but I fear she may be under-estimating the typical Tory MP’s instinct for self-preservation this time round.
Also, Zac Goldsmith’s reference to a General Election being ‘morally unavoidable’ has inadvertently touched on the main reason why we’re in such a mess.
And they make it sound as if it’s the worst possible outcome for the country. It’s the best possible outcome.
I say that but if we vote them to continue, we are a pack of dumb shites. Hopefully, when the election happens, they get kicked out and we get a quarter compentent government that knows it is to serve the country, not their pockets.
Dorries always sucked up to Johnson. She cares more about getting a top Cabinet job for her loyalty than she does about people exercising their democratic right.
