Huh ? That title and first line doesn’t seem to match
I do think its a little silly how much a tizzy people get into about the idea of their not being live animals there. Like that’s not what Christmas is meant to be about in the first place, you’re celebrating the birth of Jesus not seeing a donkey in real.
I never knew there was a live crib until there wasn’t, can’t say I’ll miss it.
The more these people get into position of power, the more petty, spiteful little things they do, and the more they expose themselves as extremists.
There’s every chance that the Green Party of Ireland won’t exist beyond about 2025 and we can get on with having sensible discussions about climate and the environment without these swivel-eyed loopers and their permasteria.

They will get voted in again. The next election campaign will see the media concentrate on climate change, scare the bejaysus out of everyone and they will get votes.

Exactly how is the Green Party the problem here? Just typical baseless criticism.
The real secret about the Greens is that they are anti-growth (for the developed world including Ireland in any case), but they know that’s not compatible with democracy, so they have to pretend they are pro-growth but just it has to be ‘sustainable’, ‘carbon neutral’, ‘just transition’, ‘net zero’ etc. This is not possible in the world of today, and many, many people in Ireland, mostly people who are not wealthy, will end up suffering because of Green dogma.
Check out their demographics in the opinion polls – they really are Fine Gael on bikes, a party for very wealthy, urban people. But even these voters are pissed off with the constant lecturing and eco-shaming, so the Greens are going to be wiped out in the next election… and they will richly deserve it.
The Green party once again shows it’s utter incompetence as politicians. What a bullshit topic to make a stand over; people like the crib, don’t overthink it, instead maybe focus on keeping the streets clean.
I have voted Green because I think they’re honest and I trust them to deal with endemic planning corruption and to do unpopular things like introduce more bike lanes. but this stupid, culture war bullshit is so at variance with common sense that it makes me wonder if I’ll vote again.
