Children who say they are trans are going through a ‘phase’, NHS says

  1. You’d hope so for their sakes but they should still get mental support, and know that when they’re adults there are options open to them.

  2. And yet, the most recent study showed that 98% of teenagers who take hormones continue to do so into adulthood.

How dare the facts get in the way of the hate campaigns on TERF island

  3. Before anyone gets upset, the NHS actually told doctors they should ‘explore all developmentally appropriate options’ with youngsters who believe they are trans but to be ‘mindful that this may be a transient phase’.

This is the correct approach. Gender dysmorphia is very real in adolescents and treatment is important but not all of those who come out as Trans as children/teens feel that way when they reach adulthood. There may be other factors at play.

With therapy, affirmative care and support they’ll be able to get the support they need whatever it is. That’s the role of the NHS.

  4. I mean this is obviously correct, to the point that nobody would dare to disagree.

Exactly why children are not allowed to make life changing decisions until they are older.

  5. I mean… Duh?

I didn’t know who I was as a person during my teens. Hell I still don’t really know now. I’m not sure exposing kids to the idea is a great thing, honestly. The young are much more impressionable and if they’re convinced they need to make a monumental, irreversible life change…

There’s a reason the transexual suicide rate is so high, and it’s not solely because of discrimination.
