  1. It’s okay. I’m sure Lord King is living like his name suggests in some multi million pound house without a mortgage on a cushy pension.

  2. Isn’t UK taxed similar or higher than European nations that have better standard of living?
My swiss friend was laughing his ass off when I told him about our taxes, childcare, rent prices etc.

  3. …. Yeah, but tax breaks and fuckery for those considered well above average.

    We got yours/ours back.

The new new new Tory party

  4. How about taking back some of the billions given out to rich people in the last three years?

Fastest ever increase in billionaire wealth, whilst we’ve all been grafting and struggling.

  5. Of course he does! The likes of him aren’t going to turn round and say “You know what? Maybe we should pay our fair share in tax too. After all, we can certainly afford it.”
That’s never going to happen instead they’ll just squeeze every penny out of the common man until they are broke, then they’ll try again.

  6. Literally the only tax change we need is to tax the rich and multi-nationals their full wealth, not their declared wealth.

The recent cost of living hikes in travel and energy don’t even register on a rich persons radar.

  7. an interesting fact – we’re actually paying more taxes (hidden in all avenues) than what’s caused french revolution … but I’m sure as a nation we can still pay more – no problem

  8. Aww that’s cute of him to say. It’s funny he hasn’t clocked on yet that their time has come, no one is going to stand for this crap anymore. Tax the rich. Eat the fucking rich.

  9. Great, our solution since the beginning of the decline of the empire is increase taxes of the common folk. It’s beyond ridiculous now.

  10. The biggest thing is fiscal drag from infaltion

£50k salary is not a lot to start paying 40% income tax.

Especially for the young that get a further 9% removed from student loan, not forgetting the 3.25% NI

Not saying people around this band are struggling, but to give up over half your income is a bit of a piss take

  11. But not for the wider economy? That’s part of the problem. You can’t have a sustainable tax base if the tax burden is placed entirely on just the working to upper-middle class. The wealthy, asset-rich and corporations need to contribute too.

  12. Tax the rich, increase salaries and increase taxes. Inflation would be limited then.
At the same time, maybe someone with a brain can go on tv and describe the reality behind our current situation and what is the road to what we want.

  13. Written as a warning when in reality it is essential. Average tax needs to be higher, windfall taxes are needed, nationalisation is required and honesty. Someone needs to lay the figures out for the nation to see, no massaged figures, no different ways of measurement or hidden bills.
Government needs money, money comes from taxation.
