Just a general warning. There’s a new trend of bots or otherwise weird users (Emma3456, Special1687, … stuff like that) who start chat conversations with people engaging in chats on this subreddit. They have barely any posts, mostly about random stuff like [blurry cake](https://i.imgur.com/386WmzI.png).
They will ask general advice about Belgian/travel things I think. Maybe other stuff too but there’s been two ‘waves’ of a lot of people here being contacted about such things now. So not a coincidence.
I’d just caution people **not to give these chatbots or malicious users any of your personal details**. Don’t give them your info, don’t meet with them lol. They might want to phish you or something or just rob you of your personal data, not sure.
This might make perfect common sense to most of you. But just to be aware.

But they are the only friends I have 🙁
Most of these scams turn out to be the pig butchering scam (see r/scams). Basically they lure you in with something innocuous, keep you talking, and then try to fleece you by either romancing you or getting you into crypto.
We all know that if there’s one thing that gets an attractive girl going, it’s Crypto.
I’ve blocked all chat and messaging, I’m not really into the whole private chat spiel here on reddit.
I’ve had 2 of those in the past few weeks.

Joke’s on them, I use old.reddit so I don’t even notice I have a chat!
I had weird chats in the past, but only notice them after weeks/months when I’m redirected to new reddit because a page doesn’t work on old reddit.
But what if I want to lure strangers to rob them?
So I shouldn’t have sent her a picture of me fingering my buthole?
Meeting with a bot. Nice.
Can confirm, got contacted by “someone” named Yellow-Special1687 for travel advice. They started to ask for my name and age, claiming their name was Emily.
I knew their 2y/o profile with only posts in the last 10 days and only two comments (that were deleted and downvoted) were something fishy.
But I just couldn’t resist promoting the touristic stuff in Belgium, hadn’t checked the profile when they asked for advice.
Ohh what a nice blurry cake, what’s their /u/
Oh, I coincidentally had one last week. They asked me which cities to visit and then asked where I lived so I just answered “not there”.
Cheers op.
Thank you. I was messaged by someone like that and they kept asking questions rather than occasionally answering some like you would in a normal conversation.
I got weirded out and stopped replying, but I thought they were just socially inept. xd
I guess I’ll report the chat, then.
Thanks!
I ignored one the chat request. Not that I wouldn’t advise someone on what’s to see here should they travel here but because there was no reason for anyone to just send me a chat about it in the first place.
Got it too a while back.
oh yeah had one too. Didn’t engage, I cannot for the life of me imagine why anyone would want a conversation with me.
I’ve had about five of these the last month. The first one was suspicious enough.
Hmmm I wonder what their end game is. I did message a bit with one of them and now that you mention it, they did fish for name and age. Not that I gave it to them, but it’s a clever scam tactic.
Latest I got was from ‘PoundMedical1728’, suggesting I’d visit their new Rule34 porn sub. Nah, I’m good, thanks.
yup got one as well
Yeah I got contactes as well and already felt something was up. I told them to go look on the sub itself.
The [climax](https://imgur.com/a/XaahGRz) of my convo
I had this happen to me on WhatsApp but [tried to make a funny thing about it](https://imgur.com/a/QkGC0Mc)
It’s ok, i didnt reply :’)
Just the thought of People thinking i go outside enough to give travel advice.
