I heard this from my cousin and now I do it always 😀

  1. Yes, we’ve always arranged the utensils like that in our home as well. But judging from the comments it may not be that common, haha.

Edit: The utensil drawer in our house is in a counter that has bar stools in front of it so if someone is sitting there you can’t open the drawers fully so it’s useful to know that the utensils are arranged as haa-vei-lu so you can reach for them blindly.

  2. For me its [blank] [blank] [blank] because all of them are in use, sitting in sink waiting to be cleaned or on the drying rack

  3. This is pretty misleading, “we” don’t do this in Finland commonly. This is the first time I’ve heard about this and I’m Finnish lol

  4. This is also the proper order on the table, from left to right: fork, [plate], knife, spoon. If someone is grabbing sets of utensils from the drawer, they can then set the table by leaning over each position with the correct utensils in each hand to set down.

  5. I’m Finnish but I’ve never heard of this before. Mine are usually in random order.

  6. What is this post getting at? Because this just looks like something everyone does in every kitchen I have ever been in. Everyone I know puts knives forks and spoons in a tray like that and then in the draw it’s not a big deal.
