How quickly they’ve forgotten the local election wipeouts that spurred their hurry to oust him.
This is fascinating. Voting in Johnson could literally end the Tory party, or it could save it. Sunak would likely still lose but could lead the party in opposition.
The Tories are very close to ending their own existence. It could be fine but this is wild.
This truly is a bananas death march isn’t it.
I am lost for words.
MPs now licking up vomit like dogs, after drunkenly throwing up on the floor.
Lee Anderson, Jonathan Gullis, Shaun Bailey, Ben Bradley… not exactly the brightest of Tories lol
Well over half Johnson’s endorsements are from people who endorsed Truss last time around. Says something about the quality of his backers.
The worrying thing is that his support is coming from absolute dreck. He’s burned through so many mps if he tries to form a government its going to be with the absolute worst of the worst the tory party has to offer.
Wonder how much of this is pressure from deluded local Tory membership?
It’s bollocks. If he’s got his 100 votes there’s no way he would not be declaring and showing his list of names to everyone.
He is currently 3/1 with Sunak a big odds-on Fav.
However, explain to me that if he reaches 100 (he only needs 1 out of 3 MPs still to vote to reach that), how will he not be a shoe-in?
Because the (rich, ageing, white) online Tory Members are surely mostly in Johnson’s camp.
I mean…a lot didn’t want Johnson out and those are likely the ones happy to have him back.
While the ones that wanted him out will not be happy he’s back.
Those in marginal seats, which includes my tosspot of an MP who I have yet to see utter a word in the commons, know their time is up and see Boris as some sort of magician who might be able to pull the rabbit out of the hat. last chance. Like gamblers who in desperation risk all of their money on an outsider that will likely fall at the first hurdle because the potential payout will be worth it even if it means their family will go hungry and lose their home as a result.
At this point our democracy is a farce. It really is. How can a disgraced leader ousted by his own party six weeks ago return and become PM again? It’s utter nonsense. Not once have I heard a single Tory go on about fixing this country its all about their bloody party and the hopes they can win another fixed election.
Should let you know everything you need to know about the Tories.
And then they’ll try to push him out once he’s back in and they remember how terrible he is. I’d call them clowns, but that would be offensive to actual clowns.
Isn’t a complete lack of personal integrity, honour and rectitude very much sort after qualities in Tory politics?
I want the candidate who promises an immediate election to win. If none does, then I want Johnson to win.
Apologies if this has been covered, but what is the honest, objective reason being touted by Tories to frame this as even remotely viable? What’s to offset the essentially mandatory public backlash if he occupies the post again? It simply sounds like a bad line in a sitcom to answer the question of who should be PM with “Umm…Boris again?”
How do I, a mere pleb, inform our political overlords that I don’t want Boris Johnson to saunter back into Number 10? He resigned for a reason FFS.
how about a deal for boris to serve out this parliament, then be replaced by sunak after the election. boris will probably reduce the defeat by a few percent, and sunak will probably be the best hope for coming up with something sensible longer term (not that im a fan of either or anything, but out of the options available)
Some folks would rather vote for a self-destructive man than for a POC, even if it’s on the same team.
These are uhh …certainly some inner workings there, in team Tory
We literally had the local town on the TV the other night (landslide Tory area) and they were interviewing the public on Truss’s resignation. Almost to a man and woman when they were asked who was next they all said Boris.
I’m sure he’s hated in some circles but still loved in others
fucking hypocrites then want him out the they want him back this is why i stay out of politics
What do you expect they’re Tories. Idiots who only care about entitlement.
I don’t think Tory party members realise how badly Johnson would do right now in a general election
If anything just watching Boris do this – knowing full well how damaging his return as PM would be to the party and the country, is as clear an indication you can get that he is a narcissist and not fit to be a leader. It is all about him and he doesn’t care about the collateral damage. Chilling.
He will be out when the investigation results come back
They must know that he polled better with the public than Truss ever has, which is all they need right now. They want power more than they want integrity and Johnson is the man who can give them just that.
Typical self-serving, clinging onto their job, Tory
It would be hilarious if Boris leads the Tories into the general election and they get destroyed.
Well I kind of understand. The only way this could go remotely good for them is if they put their best liar back in charge.
Lol, all these fools who have been hung and left out to try are looking even sillier now that Johnson is backing out. Complete bunch of muppets.
The issue I have is that whenever reading a newspaper in the UK, you have to question who the owner supports in the race.
When you say MPs are backing Boris, is it 100, 60, 10, or just Boris himself?

Wait… if 3 go through, are they *all* subjected to the run-off vote, or just the losing two? Because [this](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FfwFVeJXkAANic0?format=jpg&name=4096×4096) implies Sunak is already guaranteed ‘top two’, but I don’t see how that figures.
