its a small country. we simply do not have the space
It’s not elephants that are banned. Just pink elephants. And it’s only because they clash with the national aesthetic.
It’s the pink elephant and it’s a flag for those who support victims of sexual abuse
The meaning is that we need to talk and address the elephant in the room
The men’s national team is in turmoil after the CEO and entire board resigned because they lied about knowing about instances of abuse by active members on the team
Then the 12 or the twelfth man which is the national team support group came out in support of these victims
They flew banners and stayed silent for the first 9 minutes or something similar during the last couple of games
It’s a banner of a kind of organization that supports victims of sexual assault. A depressingly big part of the Icelandic national team is being accused of rape 🙁
It’s Bleiki fíllinn (the Pink Elephant). A group against sexual violence. It’s because KSÍ (Football Association of Iceland) had huge scandals due they lied in media that they never had victims of sexual abuse within KSÍ. A victim came forward and said it was lie. KSI wanted her to sign a NDA but she refused.
It means no pink elephants. It’s a campaign that started at a national festival. When talking about the pink elephants you are referring to “the elephant in the room”, the unspoken topic. In this case it is rape. With this campaign they hope to open up about the topic and hopefully educating people to prevent it from happening as much. More often then not people prefer to talk around the subject or even ignore it leading to a bigger problem.
But in reality it’s about bringing out the elephant in the room in regards to sexual violence towards women. And to foster discussion on the matter.
Poor elephants
They dont fit inside our cave homes
Þori að veðja að það sé verið að tala um repúblikana.

Not elephants but the elephant in the room.
It’s a flag for sexual abuse victims
Many animals are banned from being imported and many are heavily regulated or restricted on importing and exporting. Main reason is because of potential diseases and accidentally introducing invasive speces, which could fuck uo the environment. Even farm animals are regulated, our horses have great genes and we don’t want other breeds messing them up.
Elephants would not thrive in our climate, every winter would mean very likely death of starvation for them

We don’t talk about it.
Too painful memories.
