  1. Large Finnish heritage in the Upper Peninsula. In Michigan, a front license plate is not required, so its not uncommon to see a novelty plate in its place. Immigrants or second generation Americans have been know to slap a plate from the old country on front, though I doubt that is the case here.

  2. Wikipedia says that in years between late 1800 and early 1900, about 500.000 people moved from Finland to North America. Most of them moved to Michigan or Minnesota. Nowadays in North America lives about 800.000 people from Finland, or their relatives.

  3. I was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I’m 50% Finnish. There’s a very high population of Finnish Americans in the UP. In fact some still speak Suomi. It’s totally possible and most def real but unless MI now requires license plates on the front of the car, it’s a vanity plate. My dad has one similar. Us Yoopers are very proud of our heritage.

  4. There is an old top gear episode where Mika Hakkinen describes “sisu” rather well. Courage especially in rally racing. The highest concentration of Finnish immigrants also lives in Michigan. Nice car 🇫🇮

  5. Haha yes I live in Michigan too, huge Finnish population here. My family is Finnish and I have a tatto of the word “sisu” in my grandmothers handwriting in blue ink 🙂

  6. That’s cool I’m debating on getting mine over to Finland. They’re so bad on gas though. It does have a small Finnish flag on the rear window 😝
