>Morrisons has been told to pay a mother £60,000 for discriminating against her when she returned from maternity leave.
>Donna Patterson, who returned to work after having her second child, was asked to fulfil the responsibilities of a full-time job despite only being contracted to work part-time hours.
>The mother-of-two represented herself at an employment tribunal and won after cross-examining eight witnesses.
Fair play to her.
>Ms Patterson said she was told she could do the job in her allotted hours, telling the BBC she was told to “prioritise things a bit better and get your head in the right place and get your mindset right”.
Shitty attitude from management.
If men had babies these issues would all be sorted out immediately.
There is a lot of talk about working 4 day weeks. Are we going to see the same issue? Employees being told that they can fit in 5 days work into 4 (for the same pay) if they just ‘focus and prioritise’ only to find out that actually no, they can’t? That it’s sustainable in the very short term, possibly for the pilot project but not realistic long-term?
I work in retail and this sort of bullshit is common.
Fuck Morrisons and well done to this person for standing up to them.
In solidarity women everywhere (& men) continued to shop at the shithole store
>With the help of Pregnant Then Screwed, a charity that seeks to protect, support and promote the rights of pregnant women
To be fair, that’s an amazing name they’ve got there.
I Unapologetically and pridefully will NEVER be loyal to any organisation or employer, I am just a number so I’ll leave when hours or any work I shouldn’t be doing is forced upon me or I’m told to “change my mindset” good riddance, I’ll be looking for my next job.
