The days of getting knock offs past them are long gone. Websites like wish.com and AliExpress have made them basically check everything that comes from China.
General rule of thumb here is DO NOT respond to the letter from import office. Instead bring it up with your agent in China who you bought the stuff off.

Write to them declaring that IPR is a legal fiction that does not apply to humans only to corporate entities, and that as a freeman of the land you require them to cease their unlawful detention of your property immediately or else you will prosecute them under maritime law.
I’ve heard this was happening a lot a few years ago with knock off guitars from China. It was when they started ramping up production of Gibson KOs . Never saw it in action. I think you’re fucked unfortunately. I don’t know how much knock off shoes are, but I assume you’re not out THAT much money.

So they open all packages incoming from china and if they look counterfeit they detain them? What if you just buy something cheap from china but the product isn’t claiming to be a well known brand??

I’d say your best to reply and say they don’t infringe IPR and that you want proff that Nike or addidas it whatever have confirmed it’s a breach of their IPR…. They’ve only detained your package not actually seized yet.
I’d just ask to see the proof that they’re not legit or to see something from Nike Adidas as I said. A lot of the time they notify Nike or addidas etc, but the actual companies don’t give a fuck over an odd bit of knock offs getting through unless its complete trash, because it’s free advertising for them.
I would mantin there was no IPR inf I get upon and your package is legit…. I think if they don’t get anything back from Nike/Adidas or whatever they’ll return them to you
