Sissi Denkmal in Geneva. Erected in 1998 to commemorate the tragic event of the murder of the Empress of Austria by an anarchist on the shores of lake Geneva.

  1. Well, my art soul is hurt a bit. Yes, she was known to be anorexic and I see the artist was inspired by Alberto Giacometti. But either stick to a complete statue or a simple bust. In addition, that Zigerstock-like box tree in the background – if the purpose is decorum, naaah.

    Idk, the whole arrangement just doesn’t fit.

I think it‘s sad that she was killed, at the same time it always seems odd to me, that there is somehow more weight given to people like her, than the „common“ people, many of which surely died tragic deaths and lived even more tragic lives under the rule of her husband (you know, the guy who sent millions to die in WW1).

  4. You can see the remain of the cell where Luigi Lucheni was emprisoned near the cathedral. He killed himself in 1910 in his cell
