What you think about putting these stickers on cars parked in cycle lanes, footpaths? Is it too far?

  1. Hope it’s really sticky and difficult to remove. Someone’s convenience is not more important than someone else’s safety.

  2. I’m 10000000% all for it. Bigger the better and slap bang in the middle of the driver’s side of the windscreen. Ive thought about pricing it many times but never got around to it

  4. Nah, it’s not far enough.

    If your local area still has a heavy population of Facebook users or something similar, what you wanna do it create a public Facebook page called “Parking like a gobshite in [my town]”, and post photos of the remarkable stupidity of the local road users. Public shaming will have a better effect than a sticker they can just bin and forget about.

  7. I would argue for the death penalty for it.

    Now before anyone argues the death penalty is not a deterant you are 100% correct. But it will stop recidivism.

  8. I phoned the Traffic Corps today to snitch on a driver who thought zebra crossings didn’t apply to him even when pedestrians were on it.

    Stopped after it when he saw me taking a photo of his registration plate to give out at me and I was like “you’re stopped longer now giving out at me than you’d have been stopped if you’d stopped at the crossing, _and_ you’re going to get three penalty points now”.

    You wonder what goes through some people’s heads when they get behind the wheel and lose any sense of community.

  11. I don’t think it would deter these types of drivers.

    That said, if the sticker said “Blind people can’t navigate around your bad parking, please be more considerate next time” – that might make people think twice. Although it’s a big ‘might’. We have a blind neighbour living on my parents street and everyone tucks their side mirrors in because she was bumping into them when walking.

  12. I prefer the phrasing “you park like a cunt” but make sure it’s one of those stickers that peels off in tiny bits to make it more annoying

  13. There’s lads in Russia called “stop a douchebag squad” and they go around doing this kind of thing.
    Sometimes the car owners get VERY ANGRY though, a few of them have been assaulted, but all in the name of stopping douchebags with cars.

  24. I might be more effective if you make it look like the clampers sticker that they put on the drivers window when a car is clamped. Would give them an initial shock but then you could nicely explain in the small print that they were not clamped this time for their transgression.

    Also I think lowering the conversation to derogatory language helps no one. You immediately give the recipient a reason to disregard your entire message.

  25. They certainly deserve it but I doubt it will do much good. Confronting people tends to just make them dig their heels in, and a passive-aggressive sticker is probably going to trigger twice as much resentment. I wonder if more of a guilt trip message might be more useful.

  26. If you get sticker ones, it can be criminal damage, so it would have to be a flyer on the screen under the wiper or a magnet as not to cause damage. Otherwise they can get camera footage if its around and press charges 🙁

When I saw that the Just Stop Oil campaigners were forcibly removed from blocking roads by motorists and others supported this, I wondered why we can’t forcibly do something to someone blocking pavements etc. I asked how legal it was to put on stickers and people agreed. An elderly man in Belfast died after falling from his mobility scooter because of blocked pavements. I’ve seen people with prams and wheelchairs have to go on the road because of selfish lazy drivers. There is ample free parking in three areas close by. It makes me so angry. I’ve asked my local police on Twitter why it’s ignored, but no reply from them. I haven’t reported anyone btw because I don’t know their personal circumstances.

  29. I like this idea. There’s a road in Finglas village where cars constantly park on half the road/footpath, its can be so bad that barely two cars get through. It might not deter drivers, who see it as free parking, but will annoy them and make others aware of them. On a side note, if any road needs double yellow lines it’s this one.

  31. We use to use “I love cock” stickers. Our mates had a load of gag parking tickets made up though which looked totally genuine from the outside but inside were just “You park like a cunt”.

    Ours was a gag when we were out and about and occasionally saw mates cars. There’s was because people kept using their tiny work carpark to browse the local town.

  33. I used to go into the local driving test place and grab a few business cards. If i saw a badly parked car I put a driving lesson business card under the wiper. Gave me such immense pleasure.
