  1. [As explained in our post yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/belgium/comments/yqr50d/100_years_ago_the_unknown_soldier_was_laid_to/), this year we remember that the Unknown Soldier was laid to rest at the Congress Column in Brussels exactly 100 years ago.

Today the final ceremony before November 11th was held in Bruges. The five urns with soil gathered at five important cemetaries (because the represent five major battlefields from the First World War) were lined up on the military cemetary in Bruges. The nieces of the blind veteran who picked the coffine of the Unknown Soldier 100 years ago picked one of the urns, using the same cane used by their uncle 100 years ago.

The chosen urn was then transported to Brussels, where it will be honoured tomorrow, during the 11th of November ceremony at the Congress Column in presence of King Philip.

  2. That last soldier taking the urn: “Don’t drop it don’t drop it don’t drop it don’t drop it oh shit I need to salute oh shit oh fuck don’t drop it”

  3. The camera soldier with the squat stance over the tombstone is really going for the perfect angle
