What has caused these to increase in price by over 100%? they used to be 29c a year ago. does anyone know if they changed the ingredients?

Just google the word inflation and have a read
My guess would be increased cost of ingredients overall.
I only knew these when they were 59 cent and even then thought they were great value
Its a chilled product, price to chill it raised, price to transport it raised, production cost raised due to animal feed being raised, cost of staff to stick it in the fridge probably raised.
Outside that Ive no idea what could be the cause
Yes. They’re using cows milk now, instead of dogs milk.
If I remember right, Madagascar has had huge issues with their vanilla yields over the past year or so
As others have said, inflation, but also

To be fair, if this contains actual vanilla, it’s more than just inflation. There’s been a poor flowering of Madagascan vanilla in recent years due to bad weather/storms and it’s price has sky rocketed. It’s the 2nd most expensive foodstuff in the world after saffron, and iirc it’s price exceeded Silver per gram at one point recently.
Aha! Was it always “indulgent”?
We import all our Madagascan vanilla from Russia.
/s obviously
Nice
Isn’t vanilla on short supply these days? I know a few vanilla rich products which have gone up.
Didn’t a big dairy / yoghurt factory completely burn down a few months ago or a year ago? Maybe they have to go elsewhere for their yoghurt supplies
You try getting to Madagascar for 69 cent
Balsamic vinegar used to be less than a Euro a bottle in Aldi, now it’s almost €3.
The price of nearly all food products have gone up, you are only noticing/reacting to the doubling of price because it was so cheap to start with. A €1.50 bar prob has gone to €2 but because it wasnt doubling its price their is less notice.
Inflation has entered the chat….
My aunt eats the protein yogurts from aldi. A year ago they cost 99c and last time I did the shopping (which has been a while due to schedule changes meaning i havent been able to) they had gone up to definifely 1.19 and possibly 1.29 which is just wild.
Terrible year for the vanilla harvest, ready it in the monthly spice
A lot of companies are jumping on the bandwagon to increase profits. It’s why all the tech companies are shedding jobs. Since Twitter fired half their staff, heaps of tech companies can now fire loads of staff too and get rid of excess staff they wanted to get rid of but couldn’t because of bad press. Now the story is just”the tech bubble is bursting” lol ..
Dairy eggs and vanilla are expensive as fuck now
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Was just a story about same issue here in USA. Companies changing recipes. The 2 examples they showed here were a particular margarine, used to be ~64% vegetable oil, now ~ 35% vegetable oil. And an organic breakfast cereal, used to have sliced organic almonds, now has changed to organic almond flavoring. Items stayed about similar prices, but much cheaper ingredients.
The most common excuse Ive being hearing is ” sure the whole lot is gone to fuck”. Hope this helps.
