Hi, I have been accepted as a Ph.D. student at a University in Germany. They are issuing me a researcher visa rather than a student visa. My question is that, do I need IELTS certificate for the research visa? The diplo website ([https://india.diplo.de/in-en/service/-/2539322](https://india.diplo.de/in-en/service/-/2539322)) does not list IELTS certificate as one of the required documents. So is IELTS certificate not needed for a research visa? People who have gotten such visa before, please reply. Thank you in advance for your answers.

Thee 18.d visa ( I think this is your case) doesn’t require language certificate. The key document is a hosting agreement with the institutution.
