Once off because they are going to change the tax policy to suit the companies, or else they are expecting the companies to shut up shop like Twitter
It’s incredible that we’ve been getting that kind of crazy corporate tax for many years at this point and I can really think of… one thing (Springboard courses) off the top of my head that the government has implemented using that money in all that time to benefit the citizens.
So little else has improved, it’s just more of the same or getting worse. It’s not like us getting big tax windfalls from corporations is a new thing, it’s been happening for years and they’ve done fuck all. Governments of countries with smaller economies are able to deliver concrete improvements to their citizens lives over time, with all that money ours should at least be doing something.
Maybe we could use it to build something that will last, rather than wildly give it away to win votes?
Ireland could find a gigantic deposit of gold under every square foot of the island, and our government would still find a way to sell off the rights while prohibiting necessary public spending, so that individual politicians can get wealthy through receiving ~~bribes~~ board positions after their time in office.
Politicians are basically salesmen for the countries assets, for their own personal benefit. We need to ban politicians from boards/directorships after public office – and close off all the modern avenues for receiving bribes.
Build a train to Donegal with it
We are royally fcked when multinationals stop booking random profits earned elsewhere in Ireland.
