Theyve a hard neck uppin the price of that aul fuckin dishwater
I wonder when Guinness will follow with their increase ,no doubt they’ll feel they’re missing out
It’s like they don’t understand the concept or inflation or the devasting impact the war on The Ukraine is having on global food and energy supplies, or the massive purchasing power of these large international brewers. They want to give small local brewers a chance to “negotiate a price” with them, i.e. rip off new Irish businesses and make them unsustainable.
Pish anyway. The dutch don’t drink it.
Alienate your customers who drink heineken cant see how this would fail
Not really unfair if the cost if producing beer like everything is going up, would people rather see them start to lose money and go out of business or lay off staff.
Good. Hopefully they get a good variety of drinks in. That’s another thing I don’t like about pubs, they all have the same few drinks. It makes every pub the exact same.
I go to England frequently and nearly every pub has a nice variety in tap, including some drinks locally produced. We need more of this
For lots of people a few pints in the pub up in dublin is a luxury
Goys, how can we have epic horseplay if the vitamin H isn’t flowing loike? At least let there be Changs!
I went to Darkies 2 weeks ago for the first time in years and years – I used to go with a group of friends for the trad – great music, Guinness, friendly staff and atmosphere- a very principled decision. Plenty of lager options available.
I don’t drink it but why don’t they just let the customer decide if they want to buy it or advise them of an alternative.
Not shortage of pissy lager’s they can sell.
Heard a lad in Clontarf say Peroners the other day, almost got sick.

Good, hopefully this is the first of a huge backlash.
If Heineken get away with this, other breweries will do the same. If they see Heineken’s takings collapse as a result of price gouging, they’ll be less inclined to do the same.
I don’t really know the ins and outs of profitability on a pint so could someone enlighten me?
Because I would think to sell a pint/keg at profit would not be that hard considering it’s coming from mass-produced vats of liquid from the brewers who take advantage of economies of scale etc.
The markup would surely not have to be that much to satisfy the costs incurred?
If anyone knows please do reply
So brave that pubs who overcharge are taking a moral stance all of a sudden.
Slight tangent, but heres a good podcast about Darkey Kelly
This is the correct response to a pre-Christmas price hike.
How the fuck did you get from cocktails to cheeseburgers…??
This made me happy, make a statement.
Just a publicity stunt. The other brands will follow suit with the price hike in a week or two so he’ll either have to remove those too or more likely, he’ll end up quietly putting the Heineken back.
People would still buy drink in this country if you doubled the price.
Tastes like shite anyway
To those saying it’s unfair that Heineken have put up their prices and are saying that it’s good that the pubs are doing this, prices everywhere have gone up, the price of a big Mac has gone up, the price of a meal in your favorite restaurant has (most likely) gone up, fuel has gone up, making it more expensive to transport both ingredients and the finished product, if you want something done about it (inflation), don’t think that it’s going to be fixed in the next election because it’s a global issue, instead, tell you’re TDs that the problem needs to be broached at a European level.
The reason for the high prices is the “sanctions” that the EU, along with other countries, put on Russia, these sanctions didn’t stop the war, they obviously wouldn’t work, but they implemented them anyway. This has led to the massive inflation, we either need to support Ukraine, in full, with military support (i.e. boots on the ground) or withdraw all support and remove the sanctions. Russia’s economy is doing fine, they’re pressuring OPEC countries to turn down production (which is working) and the greens are far from helping (the green adjenda makes it so that they won’t pressure these countries to ramp up production).
At the end of the day, this is only going to hurt both the customer (less choice), and the company even more (as they’ll have to charge the places that do stock it more to keep profits), hence, a vicious cycle starts.
